We all have items we throw away but really wished we saved. The list is large and tailored to each of us. Here's a few to start the thought processes.
Warning: keeping trash won't, by itself, make any of us hoarders.
Here's a short list to kick things off.
Broken tape measures: undo the small screw and remove the inner tape. Glue the tape to the front of your work bench area to make fast measurements or to a wall/door to measure your children's' growth.
Spray can nozzles: these cans have a high failure rate because of the nozzles. Storing saved ones can keep your paint project moving. Tip: to clear clogged or old nozzles soak them in lacquer thinner or acetone (nail polish remover) to clear them.
Plastic coffee containers: Repurpose them as space saving storage units. They stack neatly on top of each other, and they can be hung on walls or poles. One extra use is as a lunch box for wet areas, i.e., boating trips or pool side picnics.
Plastic food take-out containers: These can also be stacked to save space as storage units. They also make paint trays for smaller rollers. No cleanup needed.
Large white plastic jugs: Filling them with potable water for emergencies is a good survival technique, but they also make excellent lanterns. To make them provide enough light to read by in blackout conditions, press a flashlight to the side of the water filled jug. The flashlight's beam will light the entire jug. The new LED bulbs work best and last for hours.
